Traveling Florist: Laura & Steven’s Santa Fe Wedding

Have you ever felt like you were are a different path than everyone else? Do you live your life within what is considered “normal,” or do you march to the beat of your own drum? Laura and Steven definitely thrive in the unconventional. Their Santa Fe wedding epitomized how unique they are, and I loved it!

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”

~ Robert Frost

Many brides and grooms go the traditional route when planning their wedding, which is perfectly fine. However, wouldn’t you rather make your special day reflect who you are as a couple? Well, Laura and Steven’s wedding oozed their personalities from the Santa Fe location to the design of their invitations which were designed by the bride and groom. The bride drew the floral design that was screen printed onto the welcome bags. These two are definitely talented. A destination wedding was an ideal way to celebrate their love.

WEDDING FESTIVITIES

Laura and Steven had an intimate wedding with their closest family and friends in the Land of Enchantment, otherwise known as Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Upon the guests’ arrival at the picturesque Inn of the Turquoise Bear, they were greeted with a welcome package including a beautiful Native American blanket. Laura and Steven are equally artistic, and the history of the Inn embraced their love of the literary world. The Inn used to be home of Witter Bynner whose guests included Robert Frost, Georgia O’Keefe, and Rita Hayworth, just to name a few.

The weekend began with drinks and s’mores around a fire under a starlit sky. Each morning, everyone gathered for a family style breakfast (and delicious smoothies) in the main house. The day was spent in downtown Santa Fe with shopping in the market, viewing the miraculous staircase at the Loretta chapel, a trolley tour, and a rooftop lunch with margaritas.

WEDDING CEREMONY

The pueblo style of the historic Inn of the Turquoise Bear was the perfect backdrop for the intimate ceremony of Laura and Steven’s wedding.

“’cause you are the only song I want to hear,

a melody softly soaring through the atmosphere…”

Laura stunned in a flowy, vintage inspired Watters Wtoo gown from BHLDN. Her bouquet was full of vibrant orange roses, pale pink spray roses, sprigs of lavender, hydrangea, and a touch of silver dollar eucalyptus. Wrapped around the base of her bouquet was a family heirloom necklace. Steven looked handsome in a navy suit with a fun bow tie. The boutonnieres were crisp white lisianthus with a sprig of lavender and a touch of greenery. The wedding aisle was lined with fragrant pots of lavender, and the bride and groom stood on a Southwestern rug for the ceremony.

WEDDING RECEPTION

After the cocktail hour at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear, the wedding guests strolled down the street in Santa Fe to Rio Charma Steakhouse for the reception. The patio was aglow with a roaring fire and candlelight. The tablescapes exuded the vintage charm that the couple strived to achieve with an assortment of gorgeous pillars and vases full of beautiful white flowers and greenery. Each table setting had a gold charger, menu, and a sprig of lavender. The cake from Chocolate Maven was incredible. Sweet and simple in style, but beyond delicious in flavor.

Laura and Steven along with all of their loved ones danced the night away under the starlit sky of the Land of Enchantment. Their wedding weekend showcased their personalities to perfection and made all of the guests see who they truly were.

Since their wedding, Laura and Steven have both pursued their creative passions. Steven started a blog called The Nut Free Vegan, and Laura started a blog chronicling her journey as she completes her father’s bucket list at My Father’s List. They have also enjoyed travelling together as they explore new places as husband and wife.

I really enjoyed being a part of their celebration. I wish them a lifetime of happiness together. For more information on Floral Designs by Jessi, please contact me.

Rehoboth Beach Wedding Florist: Michael & Megan at Rehoboth Beach Country Club

With all of this bitter cold weather, I thought it would be nice to share Michael and Megan’s wedding from last May.  If I close my eyes, I can feel the sunshine and salty sea breeze.  Their wedding had a romantic, beachy feel with a touch of Hawaii.  The couple wanted to incorporate a little touch of Hawaii since Michael was stationed there in the Army.

Their wedding was at the gorgeous Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Megan looked ravishing as she walked down an aisle lined with rose petals and fresh Hawaiian leis.  They were married under a pergola draped in shimmering champagne organza overlooking the bay.

The ballroom was filled with their family and friends.  The centerpieces were lush and romantic with roses, gerbera daisies, and seeded eucalyptis accented with white sea shells.  Candlelight and more leis decorated the outside patio.

Congratulations Michael and Megan!  It was truly a magical day.  Thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day!

Delaware Special Events Florist: Kristin’s Bridal Shower at Soffritto Italian Grill

Kristin’s bridal shower was like a little touch of springtime in the middle of winter. Coral and peach colors with a rustic touch brought a warmness to this cold weather that we have been having lately in Delaware.  The gorgeous Amsterdam roses are from the Cut Flower Exchange.  The incredible cake with the rosette details was by Jessica at All About You Custom Cakes.  I know from previous experience that her cakes are delicious!

Broadkill Beach Wedding Florist: Laurie & Josh on the Beach

I can still feel the ocean breeze on my face from this wedding at Broadkill Beach.  Laurie and Josh wanted a small, intimate wedding on the beach.  I love that they rented a house on the beach  and had it there.

The bouquets were sweet and romantic with coral, peach, and white roses, hypericum berries, and dusty miller.  The fabric draped over the bamboo archway flowed in the ocean breeze.

Brownlee of Honeycutt Photography did double duty at the wedding.  She was a bridesmaid and the photographer.  Not to mention, sister of the groom!  I think that she did an awesome job!  I hope you all enjoy the love and happiness that she captured.  I also included some of the pictures that I took of the flowers.

Congratulations Laurie and Josh!  Thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day!

Wilmington Wedding Florist: Shauna & Jermaine at DoubleTree Hotel

This is the wedding that started it all.  I cannot believe that it has been eight years!  I was so happy that Shauna and Jermaine wanted me to be part of their special day.  This is the wedding that made me think that I could really pursue a career as a floral designer.  If not for them giving me a chance, I would not have begun my journey.  I just want to thank them for giving me my start!

So on to the wedding details… First, let me note that Shauna has an unhealthy obsession with pink!  🙂  Just kidding.  Of course, pink was the main color of the day, but I loved how she offset it with the oranges.  She wanted a mixture of roses in a hand-tied bouquet.  Simple and classic with a bright touch!  The wedding took place in downtown Wilmington at the DoubleTree Hotel.
