Philadelphia Wedding Florist: Vintage Inspired Styled Shoot

I feel like I have known Kylene Cleaver of Leave It To Me Photography all my life.  We met at a mutual friend’s wedding a few years ago.  She was the photographer, and I was a bridesmaid.  Side note… did you know that I have been a bridesmaid 11 times?!

This photo shoot is the first time that Kylene and I had a chance to work together as wedding professionals.  I have been so lucky to meet and work with such fabulous colleagues, especially Kylene.

Well, enough of my sappiness.  I am so happy to share these images from Leave It To Me Photography’s editorial shoot.  Kylene found this gorgeous crushed velvet gown at a vintage store.  How stunning is Molly in this vintage gown?!  She has such a classic look.

Kylene asked me to create a floral headpiece that would work with the gown and the gold shoulder chain.  So, I decided to mimic the design of the gold chain for the floral crown.  I adore the blush ranunculus and waxflowers that finish this look.  I had so much fun creating this flower hairpiece.

Have you considered wearing flowers in your hair for your wedding?  There are so many options from a floral crown to a floral barrette or floral comb.  Flower headpieces can add a special touch to your overall bridal look.

Doesn’t this just make you want to squeal with delight?!  I love vintage inspiration, especially for weddings.  What are your thoughts about vintage weddings?  I would love to hear what you think.

Delaware Wedding Florist: Masquerade Inspired Editorial Shoot

The idea of a masquerade inspired editorial photo shoot has been in my head for some time now.  One day while I was having lunch with Kylene Cleaver of Leave It to Me Photography, I told her about my vision.  She became giddy with joy and told me that she would love to capture my idea in film.  From there, everything just fell in place for this editorial shoot.

Let me start with how this crazy (or as Kylene calls it “genius”) idea came to be in my head.  First, I must admit to my guilty pleasure of reading historical romance novels.  Yup, I love them!  In the majority of the novels, there always seems to be a masquerade ball where everyone gets dressed up and wears a mask.  It adds a sense of mystery, intrigue, and romance!  This was where my inspiration began.  I wanted to find a way to keep those feelings while using flowers and greens to create a bridal masquerade look.

To go along with my vision, we selected the “Vivian” gown by Matthew Christopher from Jennifer’s Bridal.  Can I just tell you how stunning this dress was?!  All of the seams had tiny little pearls!  It had the simplest yet regal style that I wanted for this shoot.  Adding an extra touch of glam, we also borrowed these gorgeous earrings and bracelet by Haute Bride from Jennifer’s Bridal.

When deciding on a color palette, I decided that I wanted to use marsala, which is the Pantone color of the year, and some pinks and blushes with a touch of gold.  Pantone describes marsala as a “naturally robust and earthy wine red.”  I consider it a burgundy or dark red/fuschia.  This kept with the richness and depth that I wanted to portray in the photos.  I added burgundy feathers and rose gold wire for different textures and to add some whimsy.

Personally, I love a cascading bouquet…. so that is the style that I went with for this shoot.  It definitely added drama, and it was perfect with this incredible bridal gown!  To top everything off, the mask enhanced the mystery of the look.

Jen Terrell of Jen’s Hair Creations did a breathtaking job on Kathleen’s hair and makeup!  We also could not have asked for a more ideal location than the Buena Vista Mansion!  The mansion and grounds are fabulous!

I hope that you enjoyed all of the gorgeousness captured by Kylene Cleaver of Leave It to Me Photography!  It was amazing to see something in my head come to life!  I hope that these pictures inspire you for your wedding.  Contact me today to schedule your floral consultation.

Delaware Wedding Florist: Kristin at Family Home

Kristin had the brilliant idea to have a photo shoot on the day that she had her trial run for hair and make-up. Why hasn’t anyone thought to do this before?!  It’s another excuse to get all dolled up and rock your bridal gown on a day other than your wedding day.  Sweet!

She included her mother and maid of honor.  They all dressed up in their gorgeous dresses to pose for a few pictures at the mother of the bride’s home.  They told me that they took their prom pictures in the same place!

Kristin was stunning in her bridal gown from Irini’s Originals.  Nicole Ferrara of Ferrara Photography is the talented person who captured this special moment.  The hand-tied bouquets consisted of roses, tulips, carnations, dusty miller, and evergreens.  I love these rustic winter bouquets!

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this fun photo shoot.  I wanted to congratulate Kristin on her wedding.  She was a beautiful bride!

Rehoboth Beach Wedding Florist: Michael & Megan at Rehoboth Beach Country Club

With all of this bitter cold weather, I thought it would be nice to share Michael and Megan’s wedding from last May.  If I close my eyes, I can feel the sunshine and salty sea breeze.  Their wedding had a romantic, beachy feel with a touch of Hawaii.  The couple wanted to incorporate a little touch of Hawaii since Michael was stationed there in the Army.

Their wedding was at the gorgeous Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Megan looked ravishing as she walked down an aisle lined with rose petals and fresh Hawaiian leis.  They were married under a pergola draped in shimmering champagne organza overlooking the bay.

The ballroom was filled with their family and friends.  The centerpieces were lush and romantic with roses, gerbera daisies, and seeded eucalyptis accented with white sea shells.  Candlelight and more leis decorated the outside patio.

Congratulations Michael and Megan!  It was truly a magical day.  Thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day!

Elkton Florist: Floral Stylized Photo Shoot with Grace at Milburn Orchards

What started out as a chilly and windy day, changed into sunny and beautiful weather for this floral stylized photo shoot at Milburn Orchards in Elkton, Maryland.  Grace would have made a picture perfect flower girl in a wedding.

Her floral crown and belt were designed and created with flowers and greens out of my garden including hostas, zinnias, ferns, pompom mums, and buds of rose of sharon. I love the soft golden glow that emanates from these pictures. She was so cute in her dress that was accented in gold sequins.  I wanted to bring this element into the flower crown and belt.  I also added some lace to round out the vintage feel.
