Mainline Wedding Florist: Flower Crown Workshop

In honor of Mother’s Day this past Sunday, I co-hosted a Mother/Daughter Flower Crown Workshop with Kylene Cleaver of Leave It To Me Photography at the Bizzy Mamas’ studio space, The Hive, in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Do you like to play with flowers? It’s my favorite thing to do! Peonies, roses, mums, ranunculus, oh my gorgeousness!!!

I hope that everyone had a great time celebrating all of the moms in their lives. I spent my weekend with my family including my grandmothers and mother. This was my first year celebrating Mother’s Day as a mom myself. It was a very special one for me.

I really also¬†enjoyed spending time with all of these ladies at our floral crown workshop while celebrating their mother/daughter relationships. It doesn’t matter what age you are, flower crowns are fun for everyone!

After a demonstration on how to create a flower crown, the mothers and daughters began to create their own masterpieces with a little help from me. Then they got a chance to model their creations in a mini photo shoot with Kylene of Leave It To Me Photography. So much fun!

I love getting the chance to share my knowledge about designing flowers. What’s better than a workshop?! I am excited about the future of Floral Designs by Jessi. As my business keeps growing, we will be adding more workshops while still focusing on weddings and events. If you have any suggestions on workshops that you would be interested in attending, please leave me a reply. In the meantime, stay tuned for future workshop dates.

I think that everyone did a great job creating gorgeous floral crowns and showcasing their modeling skills for Kylene of Leave It To Me Photography. I love how each crown is unique and beautiful. I believe that wearing a big pretty flower crown makes every girl feel like a princess.

Happy Mother’s Day! I especially want to wish my partner in crime, Kylene, a happy Mother’s Day. She is an awesome mom!

Philadelphia Wedding Florist: Floral Milk Bath

What comes to mind when you hear “milk bath?” When Kylene of Leave It To Me Photography asks if I want to participate in one of her crazy ideas, I jump at the chance. As most of you know, I just had my first child a few months ago. When Kylene said that she wanted to do a milk bath photo shoot, my first thought went to “I have lots of breastmilk, but why would she want it.” You see, I give my son milk baths. I guess that I have been in a bubble lately. Haha.

Once I talked to her, I realized that she wanted to put a model in a milk bath with flowers. No breastmilk needed. ūüôā

I had such a great time stylizing this photo shoot with vintage inspired lavender and white flowers such as garden roses and delphinium. Isn’t this romantic?!

I absolutely love the vintage feel of this shoot. The lovely lace dress looked so elegant with the soft roses, delphinium and kiwi vines floating in milky water. Kait’s beauty was accentuated by the gorgeous makeup applied by Ruthie’s Eyes.

Makes me want to take a milk bath too! How about you?

It is always an adventure with Kylene. Can’t wait for our next one!

Maryland Wedding Florist: Zhuolun & Weibiao

An elegant barn wedding, who would have thought?!  Zhuolun and Weibiao were the sweetest couple.  The rustic Spring Hill Manor was the perfect backdrop for their Maryland wedding.  Dear Abigail Photography did a great job capturing the beauty of this shabby chic country wedding.

I love all of the DIY wedding projects that they did with help from their family and friends including a decadent dessert bar.¬† Don’t those macaroons look delicious?!

When I met with Zhuolun, she told me that she wanted a unique bridal bouquet that no other bride has carried before.  As a floral designer, this was music to my ears!  We decided on a square European inspired bouquet design with purple ombre flowers including tulips, orchids, ranunculus, hydrangea, and hyacinth. For a touch of whimsy, I added trailing greens and flowers from the bottom of the wedding bouquet.

Most brides only wear one wedding dress, but Zhuolun wore three!¬† Her first gown for the ceremony¬†was¬†by Pronovias¬†from Jennifer’s Bridal dress shop.¬† I loved that her reception dresses were shades of purple!

Delaware Wedding Florist: Jennifer & Dan at Harry’s Savoy

I loved working with Jennifer and Dan for their wedding!¬† It was like a mini high school reunion.¬† Jennifer and I went to high school together along with her photographer, Brownlee Honeycutt of Honeycutt Photography, and her DJ, Mike Simmons¬†of Must Be The Music DJs.¬† Their wedding took place at the beautiful Harry’s Savoy Ballroom in Wilmington, Delaware.

Jennifer and Dan decided to get married on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.  I thought it was a brilliant idea since all of their family and friends would be in town for the holiday.  Plus, all of the dancing would help burn some the calories from eating so much turkey!

Their weddings colors were plum and white. The plum added a richness and regal feel to the wedding.¬† I adore the orchids, roses, hydrangea, freesia, lisianthius, and stock used to create the gorgeous round¬†bouquets.¬† For an added touch, we trailed Picasso calla lilies through Jennifer’s bouquet.

For Jennifer’s something old, she tasked me with the “nerve-racking” job of cutting lace from her mother’s wedding veil to wrap around the base of her bridal bouquet.¬† I can’t remember how much reassurance I needed before I cut into her mother’s veil. Ugh.¬† However, I absolutely love bringing a special and sentimental touch to a wedding.

One of my favorite things about Spring is that my garden begins to bloom.¬† All of the flowers and greens are from my personal garden.¬† Who doesn’t love clematis, columbine, hosta, and ninebark?!¬† I think that you can tell that I’m still obsessed with floral fascinators and floral jewelry.
